AN EMPTY SEAT AT JESSES HOUSE

AN EMPTY SEAT AT JESSES HOUSE

Thursday, May 19, 2011

A Location underneath the Bridge on the other side of the Harbour,,,,,, then a Street Night shoot at a house nearby

This the Location that Robert Planed to do a 360 degree dolly to match cut into a studio Jail cell scene of the same ,,, I was really looking forward to the Challenge of these two scenes ,, and David Chapman had done a wonderful job of building and planing the Jail set so we could achieve it ,,,, He had cool things like walls flying up on ropes etc etc I had worked out the complecated lighting Gig needed ,, But with Robert no longer Directing the Film it had been shelved ,,, As Ned Kelly said from the Gallows ... " Such is Life "

We were off to the House location after Covering the Bridge scene ,,,,, It wasnt long before we were all Lit and just waiting for the Sky to be just right it will be only a few minutes and we use the time preping for the next setup ,

Still waiting ,,, almost there ,,, better start the old car up ,,, WHAT it wont start ,,, Shit get it going ,,, now ,,,, AAAHHH

OOPPPPSSSS Nearly all gone now ,,,,,,, Don't be misled ,,, I shot this after we has some good takes in the can ,,,,, I could have shot earlier If I knew I could trust the people who would be at the Post Prod ,,,,, to sort the sky out ,,,

AAAHHH That will be a wrap and the end of the week as well ,,,,, Days off < GREAT ..... Oh no We have more scouting locations tomorrow to show Dick some he hasnt seen , Bugger .

A Full day at the OFFICE to day

A Quick little scene as the New Chief comes in .

Gareth checks a bit of Focus for the reverse ,,,,, Come on mate ,,, it is 16 mm after all ,,, he he
Another little ,,, lets talk at the Coffee maker scene ,,,,,, A 800 Joker through a 4x4 frame with 216 does the trick ,,,,,,, and of course a shuffel of man lifts and 18K out the windows ,,,

A medium of the same scene ,

Now back into the Chief office ,,,,,, another shuffel of man lifts and 18 k's ,,, or Boom Booms or what ever you call them ,,

Suite case get an over ,,, and maybe a raking Profile at the same time ...

A couple of Cu's
Turn around for the same treatment ,,,

He looks to be saying , PLESE GOD DONT FOG THIS FILM ....... I wish GOD had listened ,

After our Little day down at Lunenburg we are back at the Old Rotund again

It has been a regular thing with us ,,, to shoot some meeting scenes with an Art Department supplies Rotund or what ever you call it ,,,, It keeps the rain off us and the actors while we shoot ,,,,, BUT Now you see the Back ground ,,,,,,,,

Now you Dont ,,,, AAAAHHHH

So I & an few others suggested we rotate the Thing ,,, if we could ....

So Doe See Doe
And a Doe See Doe ,,, Round it Go to the other side ,,,, Grab your partners and start shooting again ,,,

Much better than a White out ,,,, but we couldn't cheat any more or there wouldnt be a water background ,

It is all flat light out here ,,, but I need to bring the exposure up to see more of the Back ground ,,, other wise it will just burn out white again ,,,
By the time we do the second scene ,,, It has all blown away ,,,, Weather controlled by angry Gods ... just playing with us ,,, he he he
A couple of cameras and we will be off to do some interiors ,,,, next .

Something interesting to avoid in the Background ,,, a sail boat with a Propeller ,,,,,, even went against the wind ,,, Cool .

A BIT OF LUNCH ,,, and a Drive to the Police Station interiors again ,,,,,, Every window is up on the 3rd or 2nd floor , AAAHHH i know it well .....

The Chiefs office ,,, The exterior just hanging in there

When you shoot back at the door you see all the outer office ,,,,, If noting is happening out there I dont light much ,,,,,,, usually dont have time or equipment to do the whole thing ,,,,, on a simple think like this ,,,, keep it simple mate ,

I think it was pretty dark when we did this set up ,,, Blinds tend to close a bit and even a light hamshire on the window to help ,,, keep the bright exterior look .

That all for today thank Folks ,,,,,, Back here tomorrow ,

SOME INTERESTING SHOTS FROM THE WEEK ,,

Day 2 of week 3 ,,,,,,, Plenty of fun on this Day ,,,,,,,

I awake to this view ,,,,,, very very wet ,,,,, got a big exterior day to do today ,,,, We get to the location a hour or so drive ,,,,,, While they are rigging the car tow rig for interiors we set up the wide shot with B camera ,,, It actually looks interesting in the wet ,,, If only it stays wet .
For what ever reasons we are still waiting for the actor to get out of make up , some hours after start time ,, very frustrating ,,, as the weather could turn sunny on us in minutes ...
We shoot the exteriors and some of the driving interiors ,,,,,
Good old Paradise Police
Ella stands in for a dead woman in the Static car ,,, This is a hard thing for Ella to do ,,,, She doesnt play dead very well ,,,,
The dead girl plays dead ,,,,,, What a great part for an up and coming actress to get ,,,, I can see it now on her CV ,,,, dead Girl ,,, Jesse Stone ,,,
We used a towing rig that works quite well for us in the past ,,,,, With a swing of the arm we can relight from the driver to the passenger position well before the cameras have even been reset ,,,
Earlier we had shot a hand held POV from the police car ,,,,But now it started to clear up ,,,
Getting brighter and less rain ...
Then just as we had completed all the close shooting it cleared up ,,,,, just in time for some wide shots ...... nasty business the SUN ,,,,
The road started drying and the sky got bluer ,,,,,,, AAAHHHHH

And Bluer ,,,,,,,TIME TO MOVE DOWN THE ROAD AND DO ANOTHER SCENE ,,
In the Time that I have been shooting these Jesse Stone TV movies I had never been in a situation that I have had to shoot a chocolate box shot with the Sun over my right shoulder ,,,,,, AAAHHHH ,,,, So I embraced the look and pulled out the Polariser to go with the Flow ,,,,, To be used as is or used as a blue screen to mat in a different sky ,,,,,,, And Mat in a stormy sky is what was done in Post Production ,,,,, It looked cool .
The Ultra bounce works as a bit of Full sun fill
Where are Andy and Gareth pointing A camera Now ,,,,,,???????
A Quick Dog shot before getting ready for a magic hour ( minute ) scene ,,,,,,,

I was setting up to do a C/U profile track in of a face lighting a cig and at the same time a wider interior over the bad guy towards the house . He was observing that the house lights go out ,,,,,,, Just Prior to this Dick left with B camera to shoot some of the wet wide shots we missed back at the First location ,,,,,,

,So I have a plan to get the two car shots and maybe an evening Dog shot on the bridge to back up a Green Night Shot simulated Night vision we had to do last ,,,,,,,,,,

My plans we thrown out a bit ... when within about 5 minutes of shooting time ,,, I am told ,, Where are you doing the wide shot from ???? ..

. No one had ever discussed a Wide Shot before ,,,,, No time to Talk ,,, only time to Do ,,,
So with a bit of hurry up yelling ,,,,, we shot just a few minutes earlier than I had planed,,,, dragged dolly and C camera ( or was it B camera ) out ,,,

Put the rear window in and shot a wide as the the day became night ,,,,,

Then a Nice little play with a home video POV on night shoot around the house ,,,,, we were having tooo much fun ,,, so they had to tell us to stop and Drive home ,, So we Did ,,,

A LONG DAY DONE ,,,,,,
